Mahoney's Walnut Oil Utility Finish is a specially blended walnut oil that penetrates deep into the wood and hardens quickly leaving a rich, durable wood finish that won't evaporate like "off the shelf" mineral oil finishes.
Mahoney’s finishes are made with pure California Walnut oil that is very high in linoleic acid. This particular acid is what gives the oil its ability to dry. Once dry, it'll leave a durable, food-safe wood finish that can be easily re-applied.
Mike Mahoney also uses his Walnut oil finishes for "submersion finishing" which includes submersing turned bowls for an extended period of time, then letting them drip dry prior to buffing. Instructions included.
*Made with pure California Walnut oil
*Food-safe once dry
*Can be easily re-applied
*All-natural with no chemical hardeners

Note: In order to achieve the best possible results, it’s essential that the cutter have a burr on the cutting edge because the burr does the cutting. When the burr is gone, the cutter is dull and should be sharpened to create a fresh burr edge. This can be done with the cutter still mounted on the tool by sharpening the cutter on a grinder or honing the edge of the cutter by hand using a CBN or diamond hone. When there is a burr on the edge of the cutter, you’re ready to go.

The 1" Negative Rake Scraper by Carter and Son Toolworks is a superb scraping tool made from M42 high speed steel for optimum edge holding ability and its ability to be sharpened to a keen edge.
Negative rake scrapers are superior to traditional scrapers because of their ability to produce a clean finishing cut on end-grain, hard and high-figured woods as well as stabilized wood and plastics. The negative rake angle on the Negative Rake Scraper by Carter and Son makes it non-aggressive and easy to control when making heavy or light cuts without the risk of a catch which is common when using standard scrapers.

Originally developed for treating waterlogged timber, Preservation Solutions™ Pentacryl Wood Stabilizer prevents cracking by displacing water and moisture in the wood fiber. By immersing unseasoned wood in Pentacryl for the recommended length of time, drying time for green timber can be reduced by 90% while eliminating cracking and splitting. Pentacryl will not discolor the wood, is not hydroscopic and will not oxidize, decompose or migrate in the wood when exposed to different degrees of temperature or humidity. It accepts most types of finishes and can be stained and glued. How much do I need? The average wet 6" x 6" x 2" bowl blank absorbs approximately 2 oz. of Pentacryl. Instructions included.
Use Artisan® Woodsealer for sealing the ends of logs or lumber or to coat green turned bowls to control checking and splitting during the seasoning period. The coating is a water base, wax type emulsion which will dry clear and remain flexible; much superior to paraffin wax or paints. High figured areas in bowls or lumber as well as knots, should be coated with sealer to prevent checking. In some species of wood, where borers or beetles give particular problems, removing bark from the edge of the planks and coating the complete surface area of the plank will usually prevent infestation, as the adult females do not find suitable places to lay the eggs and begin the infestation cycle.
Rough end grain will take more coating per square foot, but on the average, about 100 square feet per gallon may be expected.
Tree Saver™ Green Wood Sealer is a specially formulated PVA based material that protects unseasoned bowls against cracking while reducing drying time by up to 50% compared to popular wax base green wood sealers. *Guaranteed to outperform all wax based sealers *Reduces drying time by up to 50% *Dries translucent *Doesn’t collect dust and debris *Won’t make your floor slippery *No-fuss water clean up *Non-flammable *Specially formulated exclusively for Craft Supplies USA *Average coverage: 100 sq ft per gallon *Made in the USA
