The Veritas® Scraper Burnisher makes it possible to create a smooth edge hook on your scraper that is superior to the burr produced by bench grinders. With a burnished edge hook, you can make tissue-thin cuts that result in a super smooth finish even on end-grain. You can control the size of the hook by varying the pressure applied during burnishing. Clamps in bench vise or can be mounted on bench top.

Good results, but it takes some work

Comments On May 06, 2016:As others have stated, the burr from a grinder wheel will work for most scraping. I prefer rolling my own burr (even though it is more time consuming) because I feel the results of a high-angle shearing cut are better with an intentionally rolled burr than that from a grinder.

It's OK unless you have CBN wheels on your grinder

Comments On Jul 28, 2015:I bought it because I thought that it would give a better burr and save time. It works but requires a lot of pressure and several passes. I can refresh the burr on my grinder with a CBN wheel as fast or faster.

    it is ok

Comments On Dec 29, 2014:It takes some pretty good pressure to get a better burr on the scraper made of good hard steel but it does work. A little pricey for the benefit achieved in my mind.
