- A good number of utility project kits utilize a 3/8"-16 tpi threaded stud design that allows for disassembly for cleaning or refinishing as needed. This threaded insert eliminates the need to drill and tap the wood handle and eliminates the risk of a wooden thread in the handle breaking down over time. To use, simply drill a 7/16" dia. hole in the handle and glue the insert in place.

Comments On Sep 01, 2023:This is a must for all compatible kits, to make screwing the handle on and off for cleaning a breeze. No need to try threading things in various qualities of thread-able woods. Also ensures that the handle will last as long as the quality kits will. One of my first kits, the pizza cutter, also available here, after 8 years has now had the wood threads torn out. Didn't know about or have these then. Installed one of these and it is just as solid as day one.
