Waterlox® Original Sealer & Finish is a versatile tung-oil-base finish which is an excellent finish for all types of woodwork and is used as the only finish by some of the finest turners in America. The first coat penetrates and seals, while following coats build up the surface. Waterlox® can be sprayed, rolled, brushed, or applied with a lint-free cloth. Finished surfaces are dust-free and hard, but can be washed occasionally with mild soap and water. If a higher luster is desired, allow Waterlox® to dry without wiping the surface, then buff to a satin finish. (Transparent)

I love this product!

Comments On Nov 18, 2018:I have tried many finishes over the years but always wind up coming back to this one. I use it like a Maloof oil applying liberally then wiping off and rubbing down until little sweat beads stop forming. I then apply at least two more coats in the same manner. I have not tried the method shown in the video. It always provides a flawless and durable finish. A NOTE ON STORAGE: I use StopLoss bags. I have had a can of this oil that has lasted 2 years in a stop loss bag with no residual buildup inside. You must always evacuate the air from the flexible bottle but it is totally worth it. I highly recommend these StopLoss bags as storage for any finishes. Skip the bloxygen

Versatile

Comments On Jul 25, 2015:A reliable wipe-on finish which can be manipulated to give a satin sheen to a high gloss if desired. Like most penetrating oil blend finishes, it brings out the grain beautifully and doesn't add much color. I will noticeably add some yellow to pale woods like maple though. When fully cured (a few days is best for this) it will take buffing with tripoli well if a really high gloss is desired.
Unless you're a high-volume user, you absolutely will need to buy some Bloxygen to prevent the unused finish from gelling in the can. Even with that precaution however, once the container is opened the shelf life is dramatically shortened, especially in warm weather. This inherent potential for wastefulness is really the only reason I didn't rate this finish with 5 stars instead of 4.
