    Good Value

Comments On Nov 24, 2017:Lots of different varieties of wood, but it's always helpful to mark the variety of woods in the box. Good value for the money.

    Good value

Comments On Nov 01, 2015:I received quite a lot of blanks, which appear to be oak, poplar, ash, maple, and one walnut blank. Most were around 4"x4"x2", which is a good size to rip smaller if needed or turn into bowls. Great option to get some decent size wood for trying out projects and ideas.
Once I run out, I will probably order another one.

    Good for practice

Comments On Mar 16, 2014:I'm new to bowl turning, so I've been practicing on these before moving on to bigger blanks. None of the blanks are very large, so the resulting bowls have been 4" to 5" in diameter. I'm not sure what all the species were, but there was some maple, some holly, some ash, and maybe a hornbeam or two.

    Great deal

Comments On Dec 28, 2013:This is a great deal on wood, but I wish the blocks were labeled with the species. From the outside, the wood looks to be of good quality, but I haven't turned any yet.

    Good value for bowl turners

Comments On Nov 24, 2013:My box had 13 blanks in it. Most were approximately 5 x 5 x 2, but some were as large as 6x6 and some up to 4" thick. All had waxed ends, which I thought was a good touch. Most were lighter colored wood with only three dark wood blanks and only one with real figure to it. However, I realize that if they have highly figured wood, they can make a dozen pen blanks (or more) from a block this size.
The total cost, including shipping, averages out to less than $3 per bowl blank, which I have to consider a good deal anytime. The wood is free of defects and will require only minimum preparation for turning. I am looking forward to honing my skills with these blanks.
My only complaint is that I have no idea what wood I have. I know it would be time-consuming to label the blanks, but it would be really nice to know what I'm turning so that I can learn more from the experience and it would help me with future wood selections. The lack of identification and the majority being very light-colored wood keeps me from giving this an excellent rating, but I do think it is a good deal.
