(Microtheca eucalyptus) Although Coolibah is native to Australia, this beautiful wood is harvested in California and Arizona. Brought to the USA during the 1850’s gold rush, Coolibah is a very dense wood with interlocking grain. It takes detail well and generally cuts clean. Using a skew chisel may produce some chipping, not recommended for thread cutting. A pleasing ribbon-like figure runs throughout each blank with each containing between 25-50% sapwood that offers a welcome contrast in the overall look.
Turning blanks are sold partly seasoned with no guarantee of moisture content.
Due to difficulty in maintaining a regular supply, wood will not be back ordered if out of stock.
