Easy to Turn, Final Product Nothing Special

Comments On Dec 24, 2013:I bought a couple of 3" square by 12" blanks for turning a pair of wine glasses. Elm is a pleasure to turn and is nothing like hard woods like purpleheart. I can imagine using it for utility projects like jam chucks and such. When I finished my wine glasses, I found that the grain was a bit more porous than I hoped so the final finish wasn't that good. Other people may have better luck with Elm and I could also see how great it would look if there was more figure in the blanks I received.
