Comments On Feb 16, 2018:I bought this Oregon myrtlewood to make some bowls and a goblet for my wife for Valentine's Day. She absolutely loves this wood and loved the gifts I made for her too.

Comments On Jan 07, 2017:I decided to try this for some bottle openers as it is an inexpensive domestic hardwood. The blank arrived in good condition. Turns easily and when finished with some friction polish has a nice grey weathered look. Not much figure in a small piece - for this type of turning I prefer something with more striking figure (like bocote). Figure may be more prominent for larger turnings like bowls.

Comments On Sep 08, 2016:An incredibly lovely wood and turns very smoothly. Has a variety of grain patterns and shades of color to be discovered. Warm feel once polished. Difficult wood to find and so glad I found it here.

Comments On Nov 16, 2015:I bought a blank to turn in my intermediate class because I used to live in Oregon and liked the myrtle tree. I found it somewhat difficult to turn a bowl and the instructor confirmed that after struggling a bit... however, I finished it finally and my wife loves it. I want to turn a long piece to use as a handle for a screw driver or chisel one of these days.

Comments On Dec 12, 2014:Being from Oregon I thought it seemed like a good idea to use a local wood for turning some gifts. Turned great, in my opinion it makes a very classy light wood.
