Over the years, Powermatic has earned a reputation for quality woodworking machinery at affordable prices. The Powermatic 2014 lathe offers performance, quality, and dependability at a superb price. Features include a powerful 1 hp variable speed drive, robust iron construction, and ample capacity.
    Features:
  • An inverter takes a standard 115-volt, single phase input to a 230-volt, three phase output while maintaining consistent torque.
  • Most range of height in the Powermatic family. The height adjustable stand has twelve inches of adjustment, from 34 to 46 inches, and includes glides that can be fine-tuned for leveling, allowing for maximum comfort and customization when turning.
  • Magnetic movable control box can be placed across the front of the body of the lathe or other accessible locations for maximum safety and visibility.
  • The easy-to-read digital speed and indexing readout is conveniently located on the movable control box and delivers accurate speed readings and simplifies the indexing process for professional precision.
  • Sliding headstock and removable tailstock make outboard turning easy.
  • The robust cast iron bed reduces vibrations for a smooth experience when turning larger and more precise pieces.
  • Variable speeds from as low 15RPMs to as high as 3600RPMs
  • The PM2014 can easily be disassembled. The sliding headstock, tailstock and banjo can be quickly removed to facilitate moving from one location to the next.
  • For years of smooth operation, the tailstock incorporates an anti-rotation key and ACME threads.
  • Includes 8 inch tool rest with 1 inch post.
  • Attached tool caddy allows convenient access to centers, wrenches, and accessories.
  • Banjo features a non-marring, pinch style clamp for solid tool rest placement.
  • Main power disconnect on rear of headstock lock-out for safety.

Good but not great

Additional Comments On Jan 25, 2022:I am extremely happy with this lathe. It replace a smaller Jet 1221VS that I had for 4 years. I wanted a bigger more powerful lathe and had my eye on a Powermatic but didn't have room in my small shop for a big Powermatic. I talked to a friend who is an accomplished woodturner ( he had the bigger Powermatic) who had recently downsized. He bought the PM 2014 and was very pleased with it. My PM 2014 was delivered 1/22/2021, and I assembled stand and system without any difficulty. The system has exceeded my expectations. It is quiet and powerful. The removeable control box is an excellent idea. All in all, very satisfied with my new PM 2014. (I currently have a piece of Pecan approximately 14X9 that I am turning and the PM2014 is handling it without a problem.)
Update as of 1/20/2022: I have had this lathe for over a year and while I am still happy with performance, it has been in the shop twice to fix defects. 1st time, screws came lose internally within 6 weeks, second time the bearings had to be replaced after 10 months. Quality is not as good as I would have hoped.
