Rex was introduced to woodturning by the late Dale Nish and worked as an assistant in woodturning courses while in college. He assisted alongside some of the world's best-known woodturners, including Dale Nish, Rude Osolnik, Richard Raffan and Ray Key, giving Rex the chance to learn from the best.
He is a nationally recognized woodturner, teaching and demonstrating throughout the United States and Internationally. Rex is also a well-known woodturner who has authored many articles, two books, and has co-produced 8 woodturning DVDs regarding. Rex is best known for his large wall hangings and platters.
Rex worked for many years for Craft Supplies USA a woodturning supply company. Rex currently is teaching woodworking at Lehi High School in Utah. He spends his summers teaching woodturning and selling his turnings at fine art and craft and art shows across the United States.
The focus of this class will be functional woodturning with an emphasis on chucking, sharpening and tool techniques. Rex will share the tips and tricks that he a has picked up over 30 plus years of teaching woodturning and selling his woodturning. Bowls, plates, platters, bud vases, pepper mills, rolling pins, lidded spice bowls, gobbles, and other production item will be turned to develop and test your skills. Harvesting wood and turning green (wet wood turning) wood will be explored in depth to give you the knowledge to produce your own turning blanks. We will also talk about tools, supplies and machines you will need to best achieve your woodturning goals. I will consider the class a success, not by quality and quantity of the bowls you take home, but by the knowledge and skills you take home, things that will make you a better turner!

Our workshop is located in beautiful Provo, Utah, just 40 minutes south of Salt Lake City.
Upon registering for a class, you are only charged a deposit to reserve your seat. 6 weeks prior to the class, you will be charged the remaining balance due. We will send you a packet containing helpful information when planning your trip, including hotels near us and other fun things to do during your visit to Utah.

The workshop deposit is non-refundable. We reserve the right to cancel workshops up to 4 weeks prior to the class date. Full tuition and deposit will be refunded for a cancelled workshop. Please do not make airline reservations prior to this time as we do not reimburse for any travel expenses incurred.
