Comments On Nov 30, 2020:Balky banjos are no fun. Members of our club use abrasives of different kinds and lots of different lubricants on the ways and the cam lock disc: wax, silicone sprays, CRC products, and WD40. Several of us live close to the ocean, where it's virtually impossible to avoid rust on steel surfaces unless you really keep after them. If your shop is cold and you open the doors on a warm day, you'll have moisture condensing on your ways, your tablesaw, and bandsaw no matter where you live. I tried Boeshield, mostly because of the touted rust prevention, and it has surpassed my expectations, with excellent lubrication. The little red "straw" easily reaches under the ways to the cam lock. Bonus--it dries quickly, and as far as I can tell, hasn't created any troubles with finishes. Every now and then, take off your banjo and really dress those contacting surfaces rather than just squirting lube blindly in there. Make a shield for your ways if you're wet sanding, spraying, or applying any sticky finish. And of course, after roughing out wet wood, blow off every metal surface you can reach....no surface protection takes the place of that discipline.

Comments On Dec 29, 2014:I use Boeshield on exposed machine surfaces such as lathe ways and my jointer bed. This works great to reduce friction and protect the surfaces from rusting. Suggest letting it dry and buffing it out to get a heavy film.

Comments On Nov 26, 2013:If you use green wood or wet sanding this helps a great deal. I used it with some steel wool to get some of the very slight rust off of my bed and apply it after turning due to the moisture level in my shop or from wet wood or sanding. I spent a lot on my lathe and want to keep it as rust proof as possible.

Comments On Dec 05, 2012:Boeshield has worked every time on different applications. I used it on all of our bicycle chains and components, as well as anything with moving metal parts. The wax that is built into the product makes it waterproof and lasts for a very long time before you need to reapply.
