Tired of lifting your heavy tailstock off the floor and wrestling it onto the lathe? With the Powermatic Tailstock Swing Away, you’ll never have to do it again!

The Powermatic Tailstock Swing Away simply bolts onto your lathe bed allowing you to store your tailstock conveniently out of the way without removing it from the lathe.

Just loosen the locking handle and swing the tailstock down and away for storing. When you need the tailstock, simply swing it up and into position, lock it in place and you’re ready to go! And thanks to the sturdy built-in spring assist, you feel only a fraction of the weight of the tailstock during operation making it even easier to do!
  • Bolts directly to lathe using existing bolt holes- no modification required
  • Spring assist mechanism reduces felt weight during operation
  • Eliminates strain of lifting tailstock on/off the lathe
  • Makes storing tailstock quick and easy
  • Tailstock stores free and clear of bed ways
  • Solid steel construction
  • Stop plate prevents tailstock from falling
  • Fits all Powermatic 3520 series and 2020 lathes
  • Will not fit 4224 lathes

  • Powermatic stock number PM-SA

Needs some grinding

Comments On Jan 06, 2017:It is a nice piece but for me did not work out of the box. I very carefully aligned the attachement but my tailstock would get jammed when trying to slide it onto the swing away carrier. I almost sent it back but decided to take an angle grinder with a flap wheel and add the missing bevel to the inside of the flat plates that should match the lathe bed. Also had to smooth the top of the plates and the inside edges. Took about an hour of fitting and now it slides on and works as expected. Probably quicker to just take the tailstock off and set it on the floor. Mike in Tucson

love the new powermatic tailstock swing away

Comments On Nov 01, 2015:This is a great addition to my Powermatic 3520B lathe, after we turn 70+, lifting the cast iron tailstock off and onto the lathe becomes a drag. The swing away was easy to install and works great. It is far enough out of the way allowing me to turn very large pieces over the lower bed extension.

A welcome addition

Comments On Oct 19, 2015:This is the only feature I really missed when I chose Powermatic over Robust. It installed very easy. I've been turning with it for about a week and it seems to work perfectly.
