- The Artisan® Adjustable Pen Mandrel lets you adjust the length of the mandrel to fit any type of project kit. By loosening the locking collar, you can slide the mandrel in or out to fit the blank to be turned. This eliminates the hassle of making "spacers" to adapt shorter barrels to fit a standard pen mandrel. The Adjustable Pen Turning Mandrel allows you to turn 2 pen barrels at a time or a single barrel up to 6" in length.

Comments On Jul 30, 2015:It seems like it takes a little time to get it set perfectly straight in the collet, and I do occasionally get a little vibration that makes it feel a little off center, but the pens still come out perfectly round.

Pretty good mandrel

Comments On Jul 19, 2015:I have several mandrels, but this one is one of my favorites. It's perfect for shorter kits like the key rings because you don't have to stack up a ton of spacers to make it fit. My only complaint is that it gets a little gummed up after prolonged use and you have to clean it out periodically to keep it working well. Apart from that, it's a wise purchase.

Comments On Sep 26, 2014:When you turn different pen sizes, it can be an advantage to be able to ajust the length of the mandrel, rather than adding spacers, as the precision of the turning has a tendency to suffer, the longer the mandrel (it adds up small imprecisions). This mandrel is both adjustable and stable once adjusted, which is not the case with all adjustable pen mandrels that I've used. So this little darling is a favourite of mine.
