This 2-day workshop at Craft Supplies USA is aimed at turners with some turning experience, who wish to improve their spindle turning skills. The class will begin with the basics of spindle turning, turning common shapes and the use of tools with emphasis on skew chisel work. As the class progresses topics including sharpening, techniques of faceplate work and producing multiple matching items will be covered.
The second day will see students design and make a matching pair of candlesticks using the learned techniques.
Topics to be covered:
Spindle turning techniques
Skew chisel work
Faceplate turning techniques ie: for bases or plinths rather than bowls
Projects: (May vary due to time constraints)
Matching pair of candle sticks designed and made by the student
Our workshop is located in beautiful Provo, Utah, just 40 minutes south of Salt Lake City.
Upon registering for a class, you are only charged a deposit to reserve your seat. 6 weeks prior to the class, you will be charged the remaining balance due. We will send you a packet containing helpful information when planning your trip, including hotels near us and other fun things to do during your visit to Utah.
In the event of cancellation:
The workshop deposit is non-refundable. We reserve the right to cancel workshops up to 4 weeks prior to the class date. Full tuition and deposit will be refunded for a cancelled workshop. Please do not make airline reservations prior to this time as we do not reimburse for any travel expenses incurred.
