Comments On Dec 13, 2016:I purchased one of these kits by accident. When I realized I didn't have the bushings, I ordered another one as well as the proper bushings. I should have read the other reviews before purchasing. You have to file a notch to allow the clip to seat properly. The top also doesn't have a ring or any other component attached so it leaves the end of the tube and wood exposed as you assemble the pen. Read the instructions and you'll see what I mean. This is one model that won't make it into my inventory.

Comments On Aug 16, 2016:What's really nice about this pen kit is it is much more slim than some of the other rollerball options and looks nice when finished. It's also a big plus that it only requires one size bit, which cuts back on prep time over some of the other rollerball options.
Unfortunately there are a couple of nagging issues with the design.
First you have to cut out a notch in the cap for the clip. This notch has to go all the way through the wood and the brass tube and should be done with something you can control precisely like a thin file. That takes some time to do well without leaving a gap.
Second the retention for the cap is a piece of plastic you have to install and adjust with a phillips head screwdriver. You will not be able to put a ratcheting bit driver down the tube by the way so make sure you have a real screwdriver handy. Also be careful when doing so so you don't strip the part that the screwdriver grabs onto, which you can do by say using a slot screwdriver instead of a phillips.
Finally the issue which the most aggravating to me is there is nothing on the underside of the cap, which lets the customer see bare wood and the tube, along with any index marks you might have left. Other kits like the Jr Gentlemen's have a press in piece that avoids this and gives a better look to the cap. Overall I think I will use other kits in the future unless someone specifically requests something this slim.

Comments On Apr 24, 2015:I've made 3 of these pens. Its a very elegant and stylish looking pen but as a relative new comer to this hobby, it's a bit of a challenge. The body is easy enough, but the cap requires one to file or dremmel a notch at the top of the cap/clip for the clip to fit. you then have to use a tool to adjust the nib cap to get it to close properly. A # 1 phillips will work, but the only one I had was a bit on the end of a precision screw driver set and it managed to get stuck inside the cap. Had to re-assemble and start again. Perhaps this is why I like the pen so much. Real sense of satisfaction when it all comes together. Very helpful assistance from Craft Supply techs.
