Replacement Cutter for the Crown Negative Rake Shear Scraper.

In order to achieve the best possible results, it’s essential that the cutter have a burr on the cutting edge because the burr does the cutting. When the burr is gone, the cutter is dull and should be sharpened to create a fresh burr edge. This can be done with the cutter still mounted on the tool by sharpening the cutter on a grinder or honing the edge of the cutter by hand using a CBN or diamond hone. When there is a burr on the edge of the cutter, you’re ready to go.

This is something that I've been waiting for

Comments On Sep 03, 2014:In the past, at least as far as I know, all of the tear-drop shaped scrapers available shared a common flaw: They were all made of M2 steel at best. This little gem by Crown is made of cryogenically treated steel, and therefore the edge lasts a lot longer between honings. On the downside, the mounting hole is larger than that of that other well-known tool company, so it's meant to be used only with the Crown Negative Rake Shear Scraper tool. However, it can be used on other tools if you're at all inventive. Great scraper, well worth the price, and most importantly, a joy to use.
