Absolutely Worth EVERY Penny!

Comments On Aug 31, 2020:I don't normally review tools or other items. However I had put so much thought as to whether or not to buy it because I already had several heavy scrapers, and was reluctant to spend so much on an almost identical tool. I have been using it for almost 6 month now and I can say without a doubt that it was worth every penny. I sold my other heavy scrapers and now use this one instead. It can make several different cuts and the french curve makes it fit almost every situation. When you have spent hours to get a "premium burl" bowl turned and need to make light finishing cuts without risk of a grab or chatter, this is the tool you want to use. I have never had a grab or over aggressive cut yet. It has become my go to tool for all of my finishing cuts. You won't be disappointed.

Nice tool

Comments On May 29, 2017:I have a few tools that I really like and this is one of them. I smoothed the inside of a 13 inch live oak bowl with one sharpening and absolutely no tear out the first time I used it. I wish I had bought it sooner.

Great tool

Comments On May 02, 2017:If you don't have a good negative rake scraper you don't know what you are missing. This is a great addition to my array of turning tools. I am going to order the round nose GL-2 next!

Well worth the money

Comments On Oct 21, 2015:I sat in on a class that Glenn Lucas himself taught, during which he used the negative rake on various bowls. This is a great tool to have in your inventory. Priced a little high but it's well worth the money when you see what the tool is capable of. It's very user friendly, heavy, and adds a great finishing touch to bowls and platters. I might suggest honing the burr on a regular basis as it only takes a few seconds to take the burr during any cut, and spend some time learning how to appropriately sharpen the scraper before taking it to a grinder.

GL 1French Curve Negative Rake Scraper

Comments On May 27, 2015:Very heavy, solid tool. No chatter. Negative rake just about eliminates catches. Takes a burr easily and easy to re-establish burr. Good fit and finish for handle and ferrel. Pricey, but worth the money.
