Details

The Artisan® Irish Grind Bowl Gouge features a non-traditional, swept-back grind that was devised and refined by various professional woodturners in Ireland and Scotland. Very popular among intermediate and advanced level turners, the Irish Grind Bowl Gouge is designed to quickly remove large quantities of stock while leaving a smooth finish.
  • 6" Flute
  • M2 High-speed steel
  • Premium ash handle
  • Parabolic flute

  • Artisan® woodturning tools provide an economical alternative to other more expensive high-speed steel tools without sacrificing quality or performance. Though not as highly polished as standard Henry Taylor tools, Artisan® tools are made of the same top quality heat-treated M2 high-speed steel and premium ash handles as standard Henry Taylor tools, but at a lower price.

Great tool

Comments On Jan 12, 2016:I don't use this tool on every bowl I turn. I use it more as a specialty tool. But I love all the options you have with it. You can use it in many ways. It also keeps it edge for a long time.

My go-to gouge

Comments On May 27, 2015:Honestly, unless you are good enough at the stone to maintain the long wings you may be better off to get the cheeper version. Even though my wings are long gone having turned into something more kin to an Ellsworth grind, it is still my go to gouge.

Great

Comments On Aug 18, 2014:It was a tool I had been looking at getting for awhile now but never got around to buying it, when it went on sale for double points I took that as a reason to buy it....I'm glad I did
