Comments On Dec 29, 2014:I received this stand in order to carve / grind / drill / pieces of turned art when NOT on the lathe. I needed the wood at different angles than could be done when it was on the lathe headstock. This stand mounts in the banjo and it threaded the same as the headstock, allowing for me to use the same chuck / faceplate that the item is currently mounted. This also has a receiver that one can mount on a workbench face if you would rather not have it on the banjo. The swivel / tilt / rotate action of the head of this holder allows one access to all angles / sides of the turned wood item. Most importantly it is SECURE. I turn larger diameter items (usually between 16 and 23 inches diameter) that I drill and carve. There is a lot of torque on the stand when working these larger items and I have found that this stand will hold the item SECURE during all operations. I highly recommend this stand.
