Works great, simple but effective

Comments On Jan 11, 2021:Well made, but a bit expensive for the materials used to manufacture. Seals very well! The periodic cycling of my 60 gallon compressor took some getting used to.

Great vacuum chuck system

Comments On Sep 29, 2018:Anyone who has priced vacuum chucks knows that the price varies from really cheap to really expensive, with not a lot of in between. I've been pleased with the Hold Fast system. Priced well, easy to set up, and easy to operate with your compressor.

Works as advertised, but.....

Comments On Apr 13, 2017:I saw this unit in action through one of Carl Jacobson's YouTube videos and decided to give it a whirl. It works as advertised, but I have a smaller pancake compressor which kicks on too frequently and startles me which can be dangerous. If you're going to go this route, make sure to use a larger compressor. I've since ditched my system for a Frugal vacuum pump and attached the different sized Hold Fast heads to it. Best of both worlds.

Gets the job done and at a good price

Comments On May 04, 2015:I was a bit skeptical how you can pull vacuum with an air compressor but read the first review and decided to give it a try. I have no idea how this thing works but it performs flawlessly. I put about 80 lbs of air to it and set it at half strength on the dial I am pulling 25 on the vac gauge. Really holds the work piece nice. I also ordered the reverse chuck tapered gizmo and it is really quick to turn the bowl around and line it up with the vacuum cup and turn the waste block off and finish the bottom of the bowl. Really love this chuck as I can also quickly put the bowl back on the lathe and add some wax and buff the bowl again. Also bought the smaller size cup. Much cheaper than The Oneway set up and does the same job. Thanks

Good product at a very fair value

Comments On Jan 20, 2015:I decided on this system after reviewing the others on the market, and considering a home made system. So far, it has done a good job, and I have learned a lot on the way. I did have some start up issues, and Roger at Craft Supplies directed me to Hold Fast, the manufacturer, for advice. The gent I spoke to was very helpful and cleared up things for me.
Bottom line, I live at altitude (8100 Ft) and that presents added challenges to vacuum chucking...and I was using a pancake compressor that met minimum requirements. Understanding these things, I went back to my full size compressor and sealed up a few bowls before use and I am satisfied with this product. I seem to have better luck with the 3" chuck vs the 6" but we will see about that over time...and really good value!
