    Complete Package, Ready to work!

Comments On Dec 01, 2017:I bought this chuck based on price...but I'd buy it again based on value and performance! I received it, as ordered, and I'm thrilled to say that it contained everything needed to go to work! I actually was in the process of turning a gift for my wife when it arrived and I opened the package, turned the chuck onto my lathe spindle, and put it to work. It performed flawlessly. I highly recommend this chuck to the novice and professional alike. Everything you could want in a jaw chuck. This was my first purchase from Craft Supplies USA and I must say it was a wonderful experience. Great products at a great price and lightning fast service...a one-stop shop! Thanks!

    Great value

Comments On Jan 08, 2017:This is a great chuck with multiple different jaws. Everything that is needed for a beginner moving on to bigger projects from simple pen turning. Chuck is well crafted and feels solid. Much less expensive than name brand competitors.

    The only chuck I own

Comments On Dec 19, 2016:This chuck is great! It is solid, easy to adjust and great quality. I mostly use it to drill small project blanks but I have used it to turn small and medium-sized bowls. My cousin bought a nova chuck and after using both, I like this one better! The only problem with this chuck is that it does not come with dovetail jaws and it is not compatible with other brand jaws. I still love it though!

    Apprentice 4 jaw chuck

Comments On Dec 12, 2014:I needed a smaller chuck for a mini lathe and was looking at a brand that another dealer had on sale. This chuck came with only one jaw set and shipping was extra.
At the suggestion of a friend I looked at the Apprentice 4 Jaw chuck system and had free shipping.
This chuck does exactly what I needed and more, the 4 different jaws gives me several holding options.
The first test was on a piece of hard Osage Orange, end grain and the jaws did not let the wood move a bit. I sometimes get a little aggressive but no problem using the #2 jaw.
I would recommend this chuck to any one needing extra chucks, great value and good quality for the price.

    Great chuck for the price

Comments On Sep 19, 2014:Having worked with a Oneway and this chuck there is a big difference in quality between the two. However, for the price, it can't be beat. I've been happy with it so far and I've turned bowls as big as 12 inches with it.
    I'd buy it again.

    Great Value

Comments On Sep 04, 2014:This chuck is a great value because you get quality and quantity. I just bought this chuck system and love it. I compared it with the PSI Barracuda set and this system has more capabilities and is the same price. The main chuck itself is heavy and durable. Good product for beginners because it covers all the bases.

    Best Chuck for the Money

Comments On Oct 08, 2013:Based upon the amount you pay for this chuck, you get a lot for your money. The only draw back for this chuck is the fact that none of the jaws have a true dovetail but they work well regardless.

    Truely a nice chuck

Comments On Jan 03, 2013:First new chuck purchased in quite awhile. Other chucks owned were scroll chucks, this is first keyed chuck I have had.
Works great and meets all my expectations.

A great starter chuck with lots of extras

Comments On Oct 22, 2012:I bought this chuck when I was first getting started in wood turning. I didn't want to invest a lot in a chuck because I didn't really know what I needed yet, and I was also hoping to upgrade my lathe to a larger one, which had a different headstock thread. The Apprentice chuck proved to be a great introductory chuck. It works very well, with just a little bit of runout in the jaws. The fact that it came with all these different jaw sets really gave me a chance to experiment and learn what different jaws can - and can't - do. I've since upgraded to a larger lathe and a Vicmark chuck, but I actually like this Apprentice chuck so much, I bought an adapter for it so I can still use it with my larger lathe - the smaller jaw set is perfect for smaller turnings. The only negatives to it are a little sloppiness in the jaws, and I don't like the sliding bar on the adjustment key. But that only knocked off one star, and I'd still recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive, introductory chuck.
