Seems to hold an edge as you would expect for a HSS tool. Not a whole lot of options out there for a Bedan although it's essentially a piece of square stock ground to a point. I changed the grind to be closer to 35 degrees and saw improved results. It would be nice if they offered a powered A-11 version.

These really are easy to use. I set the cutter at center and make hard or light cuts with the tool. I can rough and finish with the same tool. As a beginner, i like only using one tool. Also, i don't have to own sharpening equipment because you just rotate the cutter when it is dull.

This skew is so much better than the carbon steel skews I'd been suffering with for years. The rounded sides give me a level of control that's difficult for me to maintain with my other skews.

The weight of this gouge and the nice edge that it takes and keeps make roughing fast and safe. I have never understood why a turner needs a factory made handle. These come without and allow a handle to be custom made. This gouge and another much smaller finger gouge benefit from long substantial handles. Use a piece of brass pipe for the flange. Trick it out with a hot wire.

Just received my finisher today. I would have to say that I am extremely happy. Sad that the shop is so far from me but, very happy to have found this site.

I am satisfied with the steel Crown has engineered for the gouges. It takes a clean edge easily and the heft and weight is quite sufficient for roughing oak and ash etc.
