Bowl and spindle gouges are the tools used most when turning wood. For most woodturners, a quality 1/2” bowl gouge is a must-have as it is used for turning bowls, platters, wooden salad bowls, and roughing blanks down to round along with all around general wood turning. A spindle gouge is highly recommended for turning spindles such as chair legs, stair balusters, pepper mills and even woodturning tool handles. A 3/8” spindle gouge is perfect for turning small projects like wooden pens, bottle stoppers, toothpick holders and similar pen mandrel type turning projects.

Just received my finisher today. I would have to say that I am extremely happy. Sad that the shop is so far from me but, very happy to have found this site.

Sharpens and holds an edge easily, whether curling wet ash and maple or finishing very dry fruit tree wood(s). I am satisfied.

I rough a lot of hard limbs with knots, and even large roughing gouges had a hard time. I didn't expect much better from the Easy Rougher, but wow, what a difference! The force is transferred through the tool to the tool rest, just like they say, so I no longer get knocked around while roughing even the hardest, most irregular pieces, and I'm done in a fraction of the time. And no more trips to the grinder. It's also an excellent tool for any type of convex curve. I use it constantly, and I can't recommend it highly enough!
