Bowl and spindle gouges are the tools used most when turning wood. For most woodturners, a quality 1/2” bowl gouge is a must-have as it is used for turning bowls, platters, wooden salad bowls, and roughing blanks down to round along with all around general wood turning. A spindle gouge is highly recommended for turning spindles such as chair legs, stair balusters, pepper mills and even woodturning tool handles. A 3/8” spindle gouge is perfect for turning small projects like wooden pens, bottle stoppers, toothpick holders and similar pen mandrel type turning projects.

I rough a lot of hard limbs with knots, and even large roughing gouges had a hard time. I didn't expect much better from the Easy Rougher, but wow, what a difference! The force is transferred through the tool to the tool rest, just like they say, so I no longer get knocked around while roughing even the hardest, most irregular pieces, and I'm done in a fraction of the time. And no more trips to the grinder. It's also an excellent tool for any type of convex curve. I use it constantly, and I can't recommend it highly enough!Read All Reviews
