  • Making custom wooden jigs and fixtures that thread directly onto your lathe spindle is easy and inexpensive with a BeallĀ® Spindle Tap. Just drill a pilot hole in the wood, thread the tap into the blank, and turn yourself a jamb chuck, jig or whatever you need in only minutes. Being made of wood, you can re-turn a wooden chuck several times over before discarding it.

A different way to hold a bowl blank

Comments On Jan 26, 2014:I like to use this to mount the blank directly on the drive spindle. Great for when you have to swing the head out for larger pieces. The hole holds tight and not prone to stripping out.Just drill a pilot hole and tap it out to fit your lathe spindle.

Beall Spindle Tap for 1# x 8TPi

Comments On Dec 27, 2013:I like this tap. Using a 7/8 inch forstner pit to create a pilot hole it was then easily tapped and screwed on to my Jet 12 inch lathe. I used pine to begin with to see what the softness would do to the stability. No problem. I easily took a 2 by 6 SPF square and created a nice jam chuck. I look forward to creating other jigs and chucks as needed.
