I attended a workshop at CS in Provo. Our instructor recommended the apprentice abrasives as his preference over the more expensive products. I am very happy with this product.

This is a great hook and loop disc holder for the money. It provides great support while sanding and is much more durable than other disc holders on the market. The velcro pad is great quality and holds the discs firmly. Definitely replacing my other disc holders with these.

When it comes to finishing pens micro mesh is a must have. This kit has all 9 grits and the price is far better than Rockler and Woodcraft. I try to pick up more when I can snag the free shipping code, or when I place an order large enough to qualify for the free shipping. I've made 61 pens with my first micro mesh kit and it is still in use today. The pieces show a little wear but will most likely last for another 40-50 pens easily. I highly recommend using it at a slower speed as it is still just as effective and the lower speed helps make it last a lot longer

I bought this sanding kit when I started making pens. The sandpaper is great quality and each roll is 20 ft which is nice. Rockler and woodcraft sell a kit that goes one step further though and has 600 grit as well. It is a bit of a trade off though because their set only has 15ft rolls rather than 20 ft. So you gain an extra grit, but loose the footage this kit has. Overall I'd recommend this kit instead though as you can simply grab some 600 grit sheets from the local hardware store. I find that I only really use 600 grit when finishing wood that shows sanding scratches really badly (IE: really dark woods)

This sand paper is GREAT!!! Lasts twice as long as the paper that I was using, working with cocobolo? does not clog nearly as fast as some of the other "Premium" grade paper!!

I got this package and I got 2 same yellow 600 grits. means one missing grit. anyway there is no marking which one what color. Some people are color blind. I have other I have micro mesh and they have color and grit imprinted on the pad. But I just figure out the grit by just touching. Same gray or gray for different manufacturing will not be exact color. I just polished one stabilized Desert Ironwood burl Razor Handle and looks brilliant.
