I like to turn 12" and above Decorated Bowls and for that it has been somewhat difficult with the Vicmarc100 but this has been the case until I had the Vicmarc 120 from Craft supplies USA with the larger Jaws. I now have no problems holding to 31" Wall Platter. Thank you very much for the excellent quality of the items supplied . Doc.TA

First new chuck purchased in quite awhile. Other chucks owned were scroll chucks, this is first keyed chuck I have had. Works great and meets all my expectations.

I do turn some large bowls and like the heavy weight of this chuck. it makes life easy for holding some irrigular shapes and since the jaws are so large I hardly need the faceplates any more. It was an expensive item and was not possible to find in the UK so the shipping and the cost is much higher than the cost in the US but it's worth every penny that I have paid for it.

What can I say about this item. It works great. I purchased an inline air filter from the local car parts store. I also purchased a piece of plywood and some heavy wheels to roll it aoround where I need it. It just works. Consistant and reliable. Not too loud. Great item and very solid construction.

The video is right, changing chuck jaws is a joy. Just push in the included release allen key and each jaw easily pops out. No need to worry about numbers and 4 or 8 screws when attaching the new jaws. Not to mention the frantic searching when you drop a screw! The T handle allen wrench allows one to really crank down on the tenon for a large bowl. Crank, rotate 180 degrees to the 2nd spot, crank - repeat until really tight. If you do just "normal" turning where you only need the #2 or 50mm jaw then you probably don't need this chuck. If you do any turning where you need to change jaw sizes then this chuck is a no brainer. The ease of, and short time required, to change chuck jaws will quickly pay for the chuck: in sizing the tenon or dovetail to the work - instead of to the jaw you have installed; time & labor savings; and increased productivity. I use a Kelton coring system. So I can start with a large tenon and the large jaws then quickly switch to the smaller jaw sizes for smaller tenons as the bowl sizes go down. If I make a tenon too small then switching out jaws is only a few seconds not minutes. Or if I made the dovetail on the bowl face for a larger jaw then it takes only a few seconds to switch back to the larger jaw. So I can now chuck the larger dovetail in the bowl face to turn the tenon on the just extracted blank. I did have to create my own size chart for the various jaws so I know what size to make a tenon or dovetail.

I use this to hold dowels for making finials, and for holding bottle stoppers and other small turnings. The machining is excellent, and it holds the parts rock solid with no marring and no wavering. Collets install and release easily (be sure to read the instructions on how to install and remove them). Expensive, but you get what you pay for, and having tried (and returned) the Apprentice Collet Chuck, I can assure you the Beall is MUCH higher quality.
